Biography:

Dr. Mykola Kolganov received his medical degree in 2009 from the National Medical University in Kyiv, Ukraine. After graduation, Dr. Kolganov completed a psychiatry residency at Dr. Pavlov’s Kyiv City Psychiatric Hospital and practiced as a general psychiatrist in a hospital treating patients with substance use disorders. In 2012 Dr. Kolganov finished an addiction psychiatry fellowship and became the medical director of the Ukrainian Center of Emergent Narcological Services.

In 2017, Dr. Kolganov joined the St. Vincent Charity Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program, in Cleveland. Upon completion of his residency program in Internal Medicine, Dr. Kolganov continued to pursue his prior clinical interest in the addiction field by finishing a one-year Addiction Medicine Fellowship at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. During his training period at St. Vincent Charity, he was deeply involved in multiple quality improvement projects including: 1) the implementation of routine naloxone kits to every patient discharged from Rosary Hall detox and well as in the recovery treatment communities across the Cleveland area, 2) expansion of medication-assisted treatment for people with substance use disorders, 3) introducing long-acting buprenorphine formulations to the resources of MAT services and 4) creating an on-site Hepatitis C treatment clinic in the Rosary Hall MAT Clinic. After completion of the fellowship, Dr. Kolganov accepted the position as co-medical director of Rosary Hall at St. Vincent Charity Community Health Center.

Due to his interest in quality improvement projects and an ongoing desire to improve the effectiveness of substance use treatment in Northeast Ohio, Dr. Kolganov then completed a Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
