Back in February, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center began working with WKYC’s Senior Health Correspondent, Monica Robins, on an important documentary about the heroin epidemic in Northeast Ohio. On average, four people are killed from heroin every day in the state of Ohio and the numbers continue to grow. The epidemic is widespread and it is affecting every part of our community. These alarming statistics prompted Monica to create the documentary, Heroin: Old Drug, New Killer Epidemic. Monica conducted interviews at St. Vincent Charity with Dr. Ted Parran, Associate Medical Director of Rosary Hall, patients in detox and recovering users in outpatient treatment. [more]
